Are you ready for the ultimate guide to unblock your Chakras? But first, let's talk about exactly what the heck those Chakras are.
Chakra. Pronounce the word how you wish, but practice the power behind it every day.
Think of your Chakras like outlets in your home. They all provide electricity, but they do so in different rooms of your house and for different reasons.
Your Chakras work the same way. They all provide powerful energy to you, but they offer it in different areas of your body and each is for a very specific purpose. To run your refrigerator, use your kitchen outlet. To amp up your creativity, use your Sacral Chakra. All you need do is plug in!
But, before we go plugging into the infinite source of energy within us, let’s get to know our Chakras up close and personal. Then you can decide where to begin. If you follow my Shake Up Your Chakras blog series, I begin with the ROOT and work up from there.

CHAKRAS 101
It is far better to experience the power of Chakra energy for yourself, but I will do my best to condense vast amounts of information and explain their significance in these three sentences:
Your Chakra system is a powerful tool to help you develop a sense of peace, ease, balance, well-being, abundance and joy. Each Chakra represents a different aspect of your Body, your Mind, your Heart and your Spirit. Yet, they all work together in perfect harmony…when we allow that to happen.
So, instead of blocking the blessings, embrace this opportunity to become more aware of what’s going on in your body and your brain (and therefore affecting your life) by tuning in to discover which Chakra is crying out for attention.
Below is a brief overview of your Chakra locations to get you started.
MEET YOUR CHAKRAS
ROOT Chakra expresses pain/discomfort in the area at the base of the spine, legs, feet.
SACRAL Chakra expresses pain/discomfort in the area of the hips, lower back, reproductive area.
SOLAR PLEXUS Chakra expresses pain/discomfort in the area of the belly and liver.
HEART Chakra expresses pain/discomfort in the area of the heart and lungs.
THROAT Chakra expresses pain/discomfort in the area of the throat, neck, mouth, thyroid.
THIRD EYE Chakra expresses pain/discomfort in the area of the eyes, ears, forehead.
CROWN Chakra expresses pain/discomfort in the area of the head, brain, skin.
BABY STEP
And, now, let’s learn how to plug into our Chakras to rejuvenate, revitalize and replenish our Qi – the Divine energy within us all.
The concept of scanning may be simple, but it’s really powerful. You can find out a lot just by taking a few moments each day to get in touch with your whole Self. The practice of journaling is a timeless way to examine your vibrant inner world. Doing both together produces magical results. So, follow along with this Baby Step to help you on your way:
Get a new journal and commit to this practice for one month. Then, if you like it, continue. And, if not, you will at least be more aware of what’s going on in your mystical inner world. Here’s how to use the journal for maximum results:
Choose the time of day that is most convenient for you to be free from distraction (NO multi-tasking allowed).
Close your eyes as you lie in bed.
Take 3 deep breaths (there's something inexplicably magical about that third one).
For now, simply notice where you typically experience pain, discomfort or feel a sense of being “stuck.” All of these sensations are clues to let you know where your energy is blocked.
Immediately after each session, write the date at the top of the next clean journal page.
Record your results. Example: “lower left leg pain, neck stiffness”
Later, as you go about your day, jot down a note in your journal if you feel pain, tingling or any other sensation in a specific area.
With each entry, specify the chakra.
Pick ONE area to get started. I’ve written short blog posts explaining the basics of my method for combining scanning and journaling for each of the following:
Hint: Your body is the easiest place to begin.
BODY – learn how to tune into your physical form
MIND – discover how to monitor your thoughts
HEART – dive deep into the mysteries of your emotions
SPIRIT – connect to the Divine within you
HELPFUL TIPS
The best time to practice is either first thing upon waking or right before drifting off to sleep – or, better yet, you can do both.
Start slowly and choose ONE area of focus at a time.
My community has been gradually taking this journey one week at a time, so there’s no need to rush. The goal is to build up to a daily practice of scanning every aspect of your Being: Body-Mind-Heart-Spirit. Trust your intuition about when you’re ready to move on.
Remember...This is NOT meant to be a big project or a chore (nor is it intended as medical advice). This task is for you to simply take notice of the messages continually being conveyed to you. Be sure to save the info you record for our weekly Chakra check-ups.
I’ll be with you every step of this awesome journey of self-discovery. I’m practicing right along with you! Plus, I’ve got lots of proven tips, tools and techniques that can help along the way.
