Day 45 to Fall into Better Habits

Don’t have time to read the whole post? Then check out today's Baby Step here...

Want to know how to overcome FOMO? Wait, a minute, what IS FOMO?

FOMO is the Fear Of Missing Out. It’s that nagging, persistent feeling that you could have made a better choice. That there’s something even better waiting for you to discover it. That somehow, everyone else has some secret opportunity they’ve been given and you missed out on it.

FOMO is an illusion and it will keep you stuck in an endless cycle of misery.

The grass isn’t always greener on your neighbor’s lawn.

Remember, you have the choice to make your grass just as green as your neighbor's (or even greener, if you have a competitive streak).

You could fertilize it. You could hire a professional to take care of it. You could say nice things to it as you water it. Hell, you could even spray-paint it. The point is, you can make your grass as green as you want it…but it does take effort.

Effort has become the new four-letter word of our current times. With the ease and speed with which things happen these days, it’s no wonder our brains balk at the thought of doing work that requires delayed gratification. Wait? Be patient? Build? Grow? Master something? Unheard of in this day and age.

And, yet, that’s exactly what I am proposing we do in today’s…

BABY STEP

Let’s practice slowing down and honing in on ONE thing at a time. In fact, we’ll focus on it until it’s complete no matter how long it takes. I do suggest you begin this process with something easy to master – maybe making your bed every morning? Or putting things away as soon as you’re done using them? Or reading these awesome blog posts?

And, every time FOMO starts to creep back in, keep repeating this mantra:

There is no right choice. There is no wrong choice. There is only A choice. And, I can make any choice work to my advantage.
