Don’t have time to read the whole post? Jump to the Baby Step...
Those who annoy us the most teach us the most. And…
The one who annoys you most of all is the most important person you’ll ever meet.
Allow me to explain.
I recently heard someone discussing a member of their friend group. We’ll call her Connie. Apparently, Connie is a bit of a pain in the butt. Bossy. Demanding. Opinionated. And, even though she’s part of someone else’s circle, we can attest that we ALL have a Connie in our lives.
Truth be told, Connie is one of the most important people in our lives. I know it seems crazy, but it’s true. Why would someone so annoying to us be so vital to us?
Because the Connies of the world help us grow.
Here’s what I remind my peeps during Qigong every week:
The people who challenge us the most are our greatest teachers. They are here to annoy us into making the changes necessary for us to become an even better version of ourselves so we can then step into the life of our dreams.
I know that’s hard to accept, but it’s true. And while we’re on the subject, learn to accept that Connie will always be Connie. She’s not the one who’s going to change, no matter how hard we try.
The change must come from within us.
That’s the magic of her presence in our lives. To quote Jung, the father of analytical psychology, "Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves."
True dat, Carl. But what Mr. Jung neglects to tell us is this: How do we deal with Connie and still keep our sanity?
That’s where I come in. I can teach you how to be Connie-proof so join me for today’s Baby Step.

BABY STEP
Just accept it. Some things we can’t fix. For instance, you can’t unbreak a snow globe.
Likewise, we can’t fix people – or undo their behavior – especially not Connie (scroll up to get the backstory on her).
I believe God created all different types of people to fill all different types of needs. Why, then, would we need someone annoying in our lives? I’m glad you asked. In fact, today’s Baby Step will teach us all about how to transform annoyance into acceptance…
So, the next time Connie tries to drag you down, simply remind yourself of this one fact:
I’m not Connie. I have no desire to be anything like her even though I am sure she has many amazing qualities. So, if she’s here to teach me something about myself that needs to be changed, then may I learn that lesson in the most delightful, the most timely and the most Divinely-inspired way. And, while I'm at it, I wish myself – and Connie – a most magical day.
That’s it! You get all A’s…
You’ve Acknowledged the problem.
You’ve Accepted the problem.
You’re Anticipating a solution to the problem.
Now go give yourself a gold star. In fact, since it’s Connie you had to deal with, go give yourself 5 stars.
