Want to know how to dramatically improve your life? Rehearse for the role.

Let's face it. We all lie to ourselves.

Most of the time what we are thinking in our heads is not what's actually happening. It's an adaptation of what's already happened…what we could have or should have said or done.

The rest of the time the brain is creating wild scenarios about the future…what could happen or should happen to us if these particular circumstances come to be.

Neither way is conducive to living a happy life. Because a significant amount of the time (#almost always), we are wrong. We skew things to our current mood or circumstance and we certainly don't usually take the time to put ourselves in a better frame of mind before considering our actual options.

Then our brains go on autopilot to accommodate said mood. For example, if we're feeling low and bad about ourselves, Brain will play that version. If we're happy a completely different version will be offered.

How do I know this is true? Because, either way, we are still living the same exact life. We've always lived with the same memories, the same people, the same body and the same brain. Yet one day may be amazing and another day may be the worst you've ever had. And I can guarantee you that the circumstances are pretty much the same too.

It's just how we decide to view them and process them and then act upon them that makes all the difference.

Some days we just feel stronger than others. That's why practicing a consistent steady vibe is the way to go.

I'm not an Oscar-winning actress. But I have a few tips that might help hone your acting skills. Check them out in today’s Baby Step.

Just like any great actor will tell you, an amazing role comes from the amount of rehearsing that’s done and the amount of believability that's put into it.

Jim Carrey has told his story of the power of using visualization. Did he visualize continuing to be homeless? Hell to the no! He visualized being a famous actor receiving a big fat paycheck for his performance. Hence the results.

Remember, though, don’t be seduced by the belief that merely visualizing will get you where you want to be. It is a stepping stone. It’s a tool to ease you into a consistent mindset which will bring about clarity which will lead to better ideas which will prompt action. Jim still showed up for auditions and kept his day job.

Today’s Baby Step will get you closer to that goal with an award-winning performance:

First, we must decide upon the person we wish to be long before it becomes second nature to us.

Then, until we consistently feel that way, we can act that way.

Act the way we act when we're feeling awesome even when we're feeling awful.

In doing so, we will keep a steady vibe which then attracts to us a similar vibe. We will soon find that no matter what pops up, we can deal with it using a clear, calm, confident mind.

And the Oscar goes to…

PS...This technique is meant to be light-hearted. Use it to help you see things in a new way. It is not intended as a cure for depression or as a message for you to ignore abuse or serious illness. You can, however, visualize yourself as healthy, happy and in a state of well-being as you continue your self-care routine.

So, please take care of yourself because YOU ARE WORTH THE EFFORT.
