Baby Step 5 to Fall into Better Habits
So, I thought it would be a good idea to be more efficient with the staggering number of files I use each day as I create the amazing content (#pat myself on the back) you see everywhere: on my blog, in my daily messages, on my YouTube channel, in my shop and across social media.
It went something like this...
Me: “There’s just so much stuff everywhere. Wouldn’t it be great to have it all in one place?”
Brain: “I can help! Let’s put ALL of your MOST important files into ONE folder!”
Me: “Awesome!”


Me: “SHIT!!!”
Brain: “What’s wrong now? (emphasis on now implying stuff like this happens often)
Me: “I accidentally deleted the folder with EVERYTHING in it.”
Brain: “My bad.”


Well, there was more than one this time:
1. Don’t put all your most important files in a single folder.
Keep your files, and the different areas of your life, separate - particularly business and personal.
2. Don’t keep your most important work on your laptop (# back it up!).
Treasure what's important and keep it safe, especially things that will be nearly impossible to replace. Hint: Not everything is meant to be kept, so purge often. Then you won’t have to back it up and you won’t have clutter either!
3. Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can most definitely do today.
If you do it now, it’s done. Simple, yet true. You see…if I had taken the time to organize all the files in the first place, they wouldn’t have been so hard to access when I needed them. Duh.
4. Laugh often and much.
Do your best to get a good grip on what really counts. 99.9999999% of the time it’s not a matter of life or death (#thank God for that!) so let it go. Laugh a little...especially at yourself. Your mood will go up and your stress will go down. Bonus: You’ll be way more pleasant to live with.
