Life Lesson courtesy of The Fire Horse:

This is your (Lunar) year! Activate your excitement with the Fire Horse in 2026. And, to heighten the intensity of this fiery, passionate energy, Mercury Retrograde will show up smack dab in the middle of all the celebrations.

What does all this fire energy mean?

Read on for some wisdom, some warnings and a wonderful Baby Step plan to live long and prosper through it all.

LESSON

I know you’ll find this hard to believe, but I tend to overdo it…like a lot. I get all caught up in the energy of transformation and tend to leap before I look. Which is not always bad, but which is also not always beneficial either.

And with the fire horse energy breathing new life into old dreams, I’m feeling that familiar tingle of excitement making its way down my spine.

So, before I run wild, I thought I’d give myself (and maybe you, too) some advice to reign in the recklessness and amp up the clarity. But, first, a little backstory.

The Fire Horse hasn’t reared its head during Chinese New Year since 1966. The energy created by this magnificent creature is dynamic and vibrant and alive. If we had a time machine, we’d revisit the major pop culture of that year, which included the TV debut of Batman and Star Trek, and my personal fave, The Monkees (#Davy Jones 4ever).

So, before you catch the last train to Clarksville, check out the pros and cons of the Pow! and the Wham! of this type of energy. Plus, get some Mercury Retrograde wisdom to boot! Because…

  1. With fire, you can easily get burned if you don’t handle it properly.

  2. With passion, you can easily get burned out if you don’t handle it properly.

BABY STEP

So, before I ride off into the sunset with the wind whipping through my hair and the sound of pounding hooves ringing in my ears, I’m making a commitment to myself so I can ACTUALLY ENJOY the thing I’m racing toward.

Here’s my Baby Step Plan:

I’ll want to do things.

  • Go ahead and do those things…and then rest.

  • Remember: There is no yin without yang.

  • Reminder: Both are necessary to remain balanced.

I’ll want to make big changes.

  • Go ahead and make those changes…and then review.

  • Ask: Did this work out well?

  • Adjust: What can I do better next time?

I’ll want to have grand adventures.

  • Go ahead and have those experiences…and then reflect.

  • First: Make a plan to get to where I’m going (and tweak as I go).

  • Second: Appreciate all the moments along the way (because everything is a lesson).

I can boldly go where no peep has gone before as long as I remember to rest, review and reflect.

Because if I don’t, this life lesson will continue to show up instead:

So…What are you fired up about this year?
