“Later never comes.” But why does later never come?

Because there is none. Technically speaking, “later” is merely a continual version of “now.”

Allow me to explain how time works using the taffy-like candy called Now and Later (#appropriate).

BABY STEP

The premise of the candy is to enjoy some now and then enjoy some later. But, it’s the same candy you’re enjoying whether it’s now or later. Savvy?

Your life works the same way. What you’re enjoying (or not enjoying at all) right now is the same set of circumstances you’ll be enjoying (or regretting) later. Does the quote make sense now?

Don’t freak out. I promised you an explanation AND this Baby Step solution.

Here’s a 2-step process we can begin practicing right now (see what I did right there?).

STEP ONE - Predict problems for later.

  • Problems will come, they always do.

  • Anticipate things going wonky.

  • When things are going wonky, give thanks for the lessons.

STEP TWO - Practice preventive measures.

  • As with your physical health, your emotional health begins with prevention as the best policy.

  • Anticipate things going well.

  • When things are going well, give thanks for the blessings.

Do I really want my current now to continue to become my later?

If you do, then vaya con Dios.

If you don’t, then make a change and take that first Baby Step NOW.
