Want the best advice ever? Here it is…

If you want to change your mood then change your tune.

I mean that figuratively and literally. Vibe to the soundtrack of your life…in a more intentional way. Check out what I mean with today’s Baby Step...

BABY STEP

I don’t know about you, but music plays a significant part in my world. I have favorite songs for all areas of my life. For example, I have a dishwashing playlist I listen to after a massive meal when I’ve managed to dirty every plate and every pot in the house. I have specific tunes I listen to when I have a long car ride. Plus, I love vibing to whatever refreshing music Starbucks is pumping out while I’m sitting on their patio writing my daily messages. And on and on.

Why do I do this? Well, here’s my philosophy which is also today’s Baby Step:

When I’m doing something less than exciting, certain tunes seem to make the time pass quickly and effortlessly.

When I’m doing something I love, other tunes seem to enhance my creativity and workflow.

So, here’s today’s challenge for you:

If you want to change your mood (quickly) then change your tune (often).

Intentionally choose the soundtrack of your life. In fact, the best time to make your playlists is when you’re already in a good mood (like immediately after reading this action-inspiring post, for example). Save them up and store them on YouTube or your fave music app so when you need them, they are readily available.

This is the quickest and easiest way to change a crappy attitude before it even starts!

Side note: Beware the dark side of music as well. We all know there are those nostalgic tunes that throw us immediately into a state of melancholy. It’s as though the notes reach in and grab hold of our hearts. So, unless you feel like having a good cleansing cry then leave those off your list and turn that dial whenever they pop up on the radio.

Then, tell yourself this: “I’m grateful for all the wonderful memories I have, but I’d much rather be jamming to a happier beat right now.”

Might I suggest Pharrell’s Happy?
